Chief Director of Music of the “Concert Band of the german Armed Forces”
Lieutenant Colonel Scheibling was already educated at an early age to play the piano and trombone. In 1989 LTC Scheibling joined the German Military Music Service. As part of his training as music officer he started the studies for bandmaster at the “Robert-Schumann-University” in Düsseldorf.
LTC Scheibling was taught conducting by Prof. Wolfgang Trommer and playing the piano by Udo Falkner. He graduated with high distinction in 1996. LTC Scheibling was assigned Deputy Chief of Music to the Air Force Band No. 2 in Karlsruhe and later to the Staff Band of the German Armed Forces in Siegburg. In 2001 he became Chief Director of Music at the Mountain Army Band in the former Olympic city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
In support of the “International Stabilization and Assistance Force” (ISAF) in 2002, LTC Scheibling and the Mountain Army Band became the first German military orchestra serving in Afghanistan. He returned to the Air Force Band No.2 in 2007, now Chief Director of Music to the orchestra and later, in 2010 Deputy Inspector of the German Military Music Service.
Within ISAF mandate, Lieutenant Colonel Scheibling led two missions as head of the “German Mentoring Team” and established the Afghan Army Military Music Service. Since 2012 he is Chief Director of Music to the Concert Band of the German Armed Forces.
