Versatility & Brilliance

Which skills and qualities characterize a real ‘Champion’ of a conducting competition? The jurors will find out by concentrated listening and observing. What counts are the visible, technical conducting and the impact of one‘s personality. Both reflected as immediate audible result in the interpretation and the sound of the orchestra.

The experienced jurors will evaluate the competitors by multifaceted and multilevel criteria during the six-day elimination process such as:

  • Versatility:handling of the different orchestral forms, instrumentations and timbres

  • Interpretation of the score: transporting and converting the interpretation.
The intention of the composer is the lead. The conductor shall bring the music to life.

  • Conducting technique as non-verbal communication

  • Rehearsal technique and rehearsal work: Orchestra Contact, interaction with the musicians

  • Shaping of the orchestral sound: Transfer of their own, innermusical feeling by gestures, facial expressions and body language

Aesthetic performance at the desk, emotion and intuition, dealing with complex situations and people and creation of a deep musical atmosphere that jumps a over as a wave of enthusiasm to the audience – these are the qualities of authentic conductor personalities.
